Kadam Lamrim: Medicine for the Mind
with Kelsang Oden
Tuesdays, 7:00 – 8:30pm
Sept 8 – Nov 24
In this series of classes, Kelsang Oden will explore some of Buddha’s most important teachings on the mind’s journey to healing and happiness, known as the Four Noble Truths.
We will begin by exploring basic Buddhist views on the nature of mind, death and reincarnation, and the need to expand our horizons beyond the concerns of this one life. In this context, we will also review the “what, why and how” of meditation.
The remaining classes will focus on each of the Noble Truths in turn, under the headings: What We Should Know, What We Should Abandon, What We Should Practice, and What We Should Attain – in effect, Buddha’s diagnosis of what ails us, the causes of our mental and physical pain, and his prescriptions for the treatment and permanent cure we’ve been looking for since beginningless time.
Classes include a teaching, a guided meditation and chanted prayers.
Cost: $10 per class or $40 for 5 classes
EVERYONE WELCOME !
