Canadian National Festivals and Ontario Dharma Celebrations
These Festivals and Dharma Celebrations provide a precious opportunity to study and practise the special presentation of modern Buddhism taught by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Founder of the NKT.
The events vary in length from two days to two weeks, but whatever their duration they all offer a vacation with a difference – a chance to break free from the hectic routines of daily life and focus on the things that really matter. You will come away not only refreshed and relaxed but also spiritually re-energised.
International Festivals are special courses held three times each year and are open to everyone. The Festivals include teachings and empowerments by the Spiritual Directors, reviews and meditations led by senior Teachers, chanted prayers and meditations and offering ceremonies, and retreats to consolidate and deepen your understanding and experience. Open to everyone, these International Festivals are a wonderful opportunity to meet with Buddhist practitioners from all over the world and share experience and understanding with them.
Buddha Amitayus Empowerment and teachings on The New Eight Steps to Happiness
with Gen-la Kelsang Khyenrab
At this Festival Gen-la Khyenrab will grant the blessing empowerment of Buddha Amitayus. Through relying on Buddha Amitayus we can lengthen our own and others’ lifespan, attain the profound wisdom of clear light, and accumulate a vast wealth of merit, or good fortune.
Gen-la Khyenrab will also explain the essential practices of training the mind based on Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche’s book The New Eight Steps to Happiness. These practices focus in particular on how we can develop authentic love and compassion, and transform the problems and difficulties of everyday life into valuable spiritual insights. By using the timeless wisdom revealed in this book, we can find meaning and lasting happiness in our busy modern lives.
