Hope & Happiness in Troubled Times
with Gen-la Khyenrab, National Spiritual Director of Canada
With so much uncertainty right now in the world, it may seem difficult to be happy. We can easily become disheartened and lose hope. It seems, sometimes, that the events we see in our world have the power to weigh us down. Buddha taught us that it doesn’t have to be this way.
When we are in difficult situations, we tend to regard the situation itself as the problem. But Buddha explained that in reality whatever problems we experience come from the side of our mind. Problems arise only if we respond to difficulties with a negative state of mind. Therefore, if we want to be free from problems, we must learn to train our mind to remain positive and peaceful regardless of external conditions.
